Jürgen Klopp has been appointed head coach of the German national football team, taking over from Julian Nagelsmann, after Germany suffered a humiliating elimination in the round of 16 of the World Cup against Paraguay. Klopp, at the age of 59, left Liverpool at the end of the 2023-24 season due to fatigue, after a period of nine successful seasons, during which he won both the Premier League and the Champions League. After leaving Liverpool, he was appointed head of global football at Red Bull in October 2024 and worked as an expert for German television during the World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada. Klopp's first match as national team coach will be on September 24, against the Netherlands, in the Nations League, and his team will also face Greece and Serbia in Group A2, before preparing for the Euro 2028 campaign.
