Jonathan Wheatley, the director of the Audi Formula 1 team, has announced that he will leave his position 'immediately' for personal reasons, according to a statement from the team. Audi, which entered F1 by acquiring the Sauber team, reaffirms its ambition to win world titles by 2030. Wheatley, at 58 years old, had a successful career at Benetton-Renault and Red Bull Racing. The press speculates that he may take on a role at Aston Martin, under the command of Adrian Newey.

Aston Martin, currently in difficulty, has not scored points in the first two Grands Prix of the 2026 season. Newey, considered one of the best engineers in F1 history, has had a significant impact on the sport, winning 12 World Championships. Aston Martin has declined to comment on the rumors regarding leadership changes.
