World leader Jannik Sinner, who tested positive twice in March, won her opening match at the US Open against Mackenzie McDonald.

Sinner managed to win in four sets, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1, 6-2, in the first match after his doping case became public. Back in action after a hiatus imposed by the doping controversy, Sinner got off to a difficult start but recovered to qualify for the second round, where he will meet Alex Michelsen.
