Girona defeated on Monday evening, at home, the reigning champions of Spain, FC Barcelona, with a score of 2-1, in the 24th round of La Liga. In the third minute of stoppage time of the first half, Lamine Yamal missed a penalty, hitting the crossbar, and it was 0-0 at halftime. Barcelona managed to open the scoring in the 59th minute through Pau Cubarsi. The visitors' lead did not last long on the scoreboard, as Thomas Lemar equalized in the 62nd minute.

Fran Beltran brought victory for the hosts, scoring in the 87th minute. Barcelona remains behind Real Madrid, in second place, with 58 points. Girona is in 12th place, with 29 points.
