The British George Russell, driver for Mercedes, won the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday, thus opening the 2026 season of Formula 1 from pole position.
His teammate, Kimi Antonelli, finished in 2nd place, while Charles Leclerc from Ferrari completed the podium. Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, and Max Verstappen finished in 4th, 5th, and 6th places, respectively, with Verstappen having a remarkable performance, climbing from 20th place.
Gabriel Bortoletto scored the first points for Audi, finishing in 9th place after overtaking Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon.
In contrast, the Aston Martin team had a disappointing race, with both cars, driven by Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, not finishing the competition due to mechanical issues.
