Gabriela Ruse won her qualifying match at the WTA Rome, defeating Laura Siegemund, and joins three other Romanians in the competition

Gabriela Ruse, ranked 88th in the world, qualified for the main draw of the WTA Rome after defeating Laura Siegemund (ranked 101st WTA) 7-5, 6-2 in a match lasting almost two hours. Ruse was seeded 11th in qualifying and Anca Todoni withdrew before the last round. Romania now has four players in the competition, alongside Jaqueline Cristian, Irina Begu and Sorana Cîrstea. The tournament runs from May 6-18, with total prize money of almost 7 million dollars.
