The former first league player, Gabi Matei, along with four other people investigated in the match-fixing case, have been taken into custody. They were placed in preventive detention on Wednesday for 24 hours, and are now giving statements. Alongside Gabi Matei, the other individuals who were brought in for questioning on Thursday morning are Marius Sanda and Raul Papp, other players from CS Păulești involved in the case, as well as the club's financier, Claudiu Blaga, and an associate of his named Alexandru Cristescu.
Investigators claim that there was an agreement between players and club management to facilitate certain results or key moments in matches, and the amounts mentioned in the case are considered extremely large for the third tier level, specifically 840 thousand lei.
