Răzvan Burleanu, the president of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF), announced that the organization he leads firmly opposes FIFA's initiative to create its own company for managing the World Cup and other events. Burleanu emphasized that the FRF considers this proposal a dangerous form of privatization of football, which ignores transparent dialogue with national federations.

Additionally, the FRF has suspended its support for a new term for FIFA President Gianni Infantino until further clarifications. UEFA announced an emergency meeting with the 55 member federations to discuss FIFA's proposal to sell up to 20% of shares to private investors, fearing that this could lead to excessive influence over competitions. The meeting will also consider the possibility of a boycott of the 2030 World Cup by European national teams.
