According to The Athletic, FIFA President Gianni Infantino may ask Donald Trump to suspend ICE raids during this period. Although it is unclear whether the request has been made officially, Infantino has shown openness to the idea. During Trump's term, ICE conducted raids in several cities, generating protests and violent clashes. Todd Lyons, the acting director of ICE, announced that the agency would be involved in the security of the matches, which raised concerns among members of Congress and employees at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, who threatened to strike. FIFA now wants a complete suspension of ICE operations, considering that teams will travel throughout the country, not just to the host cities.
