A stress fracture in her right foot will prevent Emma Răducanu from participating in Wimbledon. The British player, ranked 33rd in the world, announced her withdrawal on Sunday evening through her social media accounts.
"I can't believe I'm saying this, but unfortunately, I have to withdraw from this year's Wimbledon. I did everything I could to be ready for Monday's match, but after further tests on Sunday evening, it was found that the issue has turned into a stress fracture, and the doctors have told me that I am not allowed to play. Competing at Wimbledon, in front of the home fans, means everything to me, so this withdrawal is difficult to process. I can't wait to see you all again when I am fit to step onto the court," the Romanian-born athlete wrote on Instagram.
