Dick Advocaat, a 78-year-old Dutch coach, has officially been reinstated on the technical bench of the Curacao national team, just 32 days before the team's debut at a World Cup. The Curacao Federation announced his hiring after Fred Rutten decided to step down from the position. Advocaat, who had previously resigned due to his daughter's health issues, returns to lead the team in Group E, alongside Germany, Ivory Coast, and Ecuador. This will be Advocaat's third World Cup edition, having previously coached the Netherlands in 1994 and South Korea in 2006. He will also become the oldest coach in the history of the competition, surpassing the record held by Otto Rehhagel. The team's recent results have been concerning, with losses in friendlies, making Advocaat's return crucial for the success of the Curacao team in the tournament.
