On Wednesday evening, CSM CSU Oradea was very close to winning the first Romanian Cup in the club's history, but lost to rivals U BT Cluj-Napoca, with a score of 84-85. The match was intense and balanced, with twists and moments of suspense.
Oradea started well, having the lead at the end of the first quarter, but Cluj gradually came back. In the decisive quarter, Oradea led 78-71, but the Cluj team equalized in the last seconds. In the end, Daron Russell scored a decisive free throw, bringing the score to 85-84. Although disappointed, the Oradea supporters applauded the team for their effort.
This was the fifth cup final won by the University against the Oradea team. The top scorers were Daron Russell – 21 points for the University, and Jaizec Lottie – 25 points for CSM.
