In a podcast, Ceferin emphasized that he prefers to focus on his work at UEFA, stating that he loves the organization. Infantino, increasingly contested, recently abandoned a controversial proposal to privatize the World Cup, but the leadership crisis persists. Ceferin mentioned that, although he will not run, his credibility as an opponent of Infantino is greater. Additionally, he warned that UEFA will boycott FIFA competitions if Infantino does not step down.

Victor Montagliani, the president of CONCACAF, could become Infantino's challenger amid growing opposition from several confederations. Infantino needs to secure the majority of votes to be re-elected.
