Ben Shelton won the ATP Masters 1,000 tournament in Montreal

Ben Shelton has succeeded for the first time in his career to win two ATP titles in a row, on Friday morning, defeating Brandon Nakashima 6-3, 7-6 (4) to claim his second consecutive Masters 1000 trophy in Canada.

This was the first Masters final between Americans since the duel between Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish in Cincinnati, 23 years ago.

The victory, achieved in 87 minutes, brought Shelton his fourth title of the season, all won on different surfaces. He also triumphed on indoor hard courts in Dallas, clay in Munich, and grass in Stuttgart.
