Netflix announced that Alex Honnold's ascent of Taipei 101, which was to be broadcast live on Friday evening in the United States, has been postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions. The event will now take place on Saturday evening, January 24, at 8:00 PM ET.
Honnold, at the age of 40, became known in 2017 when he made the first 'free solo' ascent of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, a feat documented in the 2018 film 'Free Solo.' Now, he aims to free climb Taipei 101, the former tallest skyscraper in the world, standing at 508 meters.
The 24-hour delay will allow the event to take place on Sunday in Taiwan, which means Saturday evening in the USA and Sunday at 03:00 in Romania.
