Vincent Kompany is recovering after collapsing during a training session of Bayern München’s reserve team on October 23, but doctors have not yet established a prognosis for his return. The announcement was made on Tuesday by Aaron Danks, Kompany’s assistant, ahead of the match against 1. FC Magdeburg in the second round of the German Cup.
Danks said that he visited Kompany in the hospital and that the Belgian coach is in good spirits, with his condition improving from day to day. However, there is no timetable for his return to Bayern’s bench, with a full recovery being the priority.
In Kompany’s absence, Danks is taking over some of the coaching responsibilities. He confirmed that Harry Kane will return to training and will be available for the match against Magdeburg, after winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or.
Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and midfielder Jamal Musiala remain doubtful, while Minjae Kim and Aleksandar Pavlović are close to returning. Danks emphasized that Bayern is focused exclusively on the cup match ahead of the clash with Borussia Dortmund.
