The Republic of Moldova will establish a state of emergency in the energy sector for 60 days, starting from March 25, 2026, as a result of the disconnection of the Isaccea-Vulcănești power line due to Russian attacks on Ukraine.
The decision was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers and will be examined by Parliament. Sergiu Diaconu, the director of the National Crisis Management Center, emphasized the seriousness of the situation, mentioning that this line is essential for the energy supply of the Republic of Moldova, providing between 60 and 70% of the consumption on the right bank. The state of emergency will allow for rapid interventions to restore energy supply and will facilitate the allocation of necessary resources. The government urges citizens to use electricity responsibly, providing recommendations to limit consumption during peak hours and to prepare for possible outages.
