Last week, the National Environmental Guard NGO from the Republic of Moldova announced the discovery of tons of plastic and medical waste at a landfill in Porumbeni, including 116 driving licenses issued by Romania. Activists were called to intervene due to the medical waste, and at the scene, they also found Romanian licenses. Authorities from Romania and the Republic of Moldova have started an investigation to verify the validity of the documents and how they ended up at the landfill. Marius Petrache, a representative of DGPCI, confirmed that the licenses were revoked and were no longer valid. The prefect of Vaslui, Adrian Șerban, stated that DGPCI is handling the situation, and a new contract for the destruction of the documents has been signed. The administrator of the company that took over the waste, Sorin Radu, stated that he was unaware of the found licenses and emphasized that he collected approximately 800 kg of waste. The investigation continues to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
