Leader of a drug trafficking group, extradited and sent to trial. Risks 15 years in prison.

The Prosecutor's Office for the Fight Against Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS) announced that the organizer of a cocaine smuggling scheme, valued at approximately 1,000,000 lei, has been sent to trial. In May 2022, a 'Mi' model television, brought from Madrid to Chișinău, was used for transporting drugs, being received by an accomplice who was to deliver it to a member of the criminal group for distribution and packaging.

The drug sales scheme operated through the Telegram application, and clients received coordinates for picking up the doses. The organizer, a 31-year-old from Rezina, was extradited from Spain in September 2025 and is also accused of another attempt at smuggling amphetamines. Prosecutors are also checking for other possible involvements of him in drug trafficking, and the penalty for these acts can reach up to 15 years in prison.
