On the same day, in Chișinău, a symbolic funeral ceremony will take place at the National Palace, where those who respected him can say their goodbyes.
Ilie Ilașcu, known for his opposition to the communist regime and for supporting the union with Romania, was sentenced to death and spent years in detention, being released in 2001. He was a prominent activist and became a senator in Romania after obtaining Romanian citizenship. His death at the age of 73 was announced on November 17, and the burial ceremony will take place at Bellu Cemetery in Bucharest.
