The President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, stated that the central authorities must combat political and electoral corruption in Gagauzia. Grosu emphasized the importance of cleansing the informational environment to reduce the influence of the Russian Federation in the region, where communication in the Russian language predominates and where there are few schools teaching in Romanian. He welcomed the opening of a radio station by the 'Teleradio-Moldova' Company in Comrat, mentioning that Chisinau will implement medium and long-term policies to bring Gagauzia closer to the rest of Moldova. Grosu stated that it is essential to have more educational institutions that provide study opportunities in Romanian and Gagauz languages. He also reminded that Gagauz ethnic people can learn Romanian through a national program supported by the state, and the Romanian Language and Culture Center has been reopened at the State University of Comrat. Grosu concluded that Gagauzia is an integral part of Moldova and that collaboration is needed for European integration.
