The Foreign Policy Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova approved positive advisory opinions for the candidacies of four ambassadors proposed to lead the country's diplomatic missions in Greece, Lithuania, Belgium, and Qatar.
Valeriu Mija, the current Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been proposed for the position of ambassador to Belgium, in Brussels, where he will replace Viorel Cibotaru. Alexandru Codreanu is set to take over leadership of the embassy in Greece, Angelica Munteanu that of the embassy in Lithuania, while Vitalie Rusu has been proposed as ambassador to the State of Qatar.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi emphasized that the experience and professionalism of the four candidates are essential for representing the interests of the Republic of Moldova abroad. He noted that the new appointments seek to strengthen relations with external partners, support the European path, and open up economic opportunities.
The four diplomats will be able to begin their terms after the completion of the legal procedures, which include appointment by Government decision and the issuance of presidential decrees.
