ANRE has approved another increase in natural gas tariffs in the Republic of Moldova, less than a month after the adjustment that took effect on September 1. The increase requested by Energocom is nearly 30%, after the tariff was previously raised by approximately 41%, from 14.42 to 20.30 lei per cubic meter.
Energocom justified the request by citing a 42.15% increase in gas prices on the European market since the last adjustment, in July 2026. According to the authorities, subsequent purchases generated tariff deviations of more than 180 million lei. ANRE head Alexei Taran said the adjustment is necessary to prevent the accumulation of new financial imbalances.
The authority also increased tariffs for thermal energy. In Chișinău, a gigacalorie supplied by Termoelectrica will cost 3,277 lei, excluding VAT, compared with 2,020 lei. In Bălți, the CET-Nord tariff will reach 3,374 lei, while in Glodeni and Comrat it will reach 4,322 and 4,393 lei, respectively.
The decisions were challenged at a protest organized outside ANRE headquarters by opposition parties. The government says it will maintain compensation payments for the cold season, but their level will depend on the funds available.
