Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Thom Tillis sent letters to Meta and Google, asking them to block Russian propaganda and funding from Russia ahead of the elections on September 28. In the letters, they emphasize the use of the platforms for spreading the messages of sanctioned oligarch Ilan Shor, who spent $546,000 on advertising on Facebook. The senators are urging the companies to ensure free elections in the Republic of Moldova, highlighting the Russian threat to democracy.
