The recent agreement negotiated by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) of Moldova with its counterparts in Ukraine provides for the export and transport of up to 6 million tons of grain in the 2026 agricultural year.
Chişinău aims to attract approximately 10% of this volume, which is why it has offered a 50% discount for transit through the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
This practice is common to stimulate large transit volumes, and government sources have emphasized that, even with the applied discounts, the Moldovan Railway will generate significant revenues.
The estimated opportunity for CFM is several million euros, and the Moldovan railway operator is working to increase capacity for efficient logistics.
The agreement will come into force on August 10.
