Hubert Thuma, the leader of CJ Ilfov, stated that the former PNL president, Crin Antonescu, was 'betrayed' by Ilie Bolojan during the campaign for the presidential elections. This statement comes against the backdrop of increased internal tension within the party, between the Bolojan wing and the Thuma-Rareș Bogdan group, which contests the leadership and governance style of PNL.

Crin Antonescu acknowledged that he also takes responsibility for the election results, but argued that Thuma's statements are relevant, emphasizing the importance of respecting the party's conservative program. Thuma suggested that Bolojan might be part of a larger plan, questioning whether he acted intentionally in the summer of 2024.
