The Veștea government was rejected by Parliament on Monday evening, obtaining only 189 votes 'in favor', insufficient for investiture. The failure has amplified political tensions, with USR demanding urgent consultations at Cotroceni and PSD ready to assume governance.
PNL has labeled the government as the 'government of betrayal' and has called for sanctions against the parliamentarians who voted for its investiture. Following this failure, all parties are calling for quick consultations at Cotroceni, but the government proposals differ, suggesting that the political crisis continues.
Under these conditions, the rejection of the Veștea Cabinet does not seem to have closed the political crisis, but rather has opened a new stage of confrontation for the Victoria Palace.
After the rejection of the government, the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, is obliged to summon the political parties represented in Parliament again to the Cotroceni Palace for a new round of consultations, with a view to finding a new majority or a new prime ministerial proposal.
