President Nicușor Dan: "We will have a unit within the SRI that will deal with corruption and its sole task will be to gather information."

In the presentation of the National Defense Strategy, the president highlighted corruption as a major vulnerability of the state. A novelty of the strategy is the establishment of a section within the SRI dedicated exclusively to gathering information about corruption, to prevent its involvement in criminal investigations, as has happened in the past. The president assured that the previous situation will not be repeated, emphasizing the importance of civilian control and the courts.

He also addressed the issue of the duration of criminal proceedings, mentioning that it is unacceptably long, especially in cases of femicide. The president promised reports from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the General Prosecutor's Office to analyze police interventions in such cases. Regarding tax evasion, the president acknowledged the progress of ANAF in digitalization, but emphasized that there is still much to be done, identifying areas of tax evasion that require attention.
