Radu Mihaiu, vice president of USR, stated on Tuesday at Digi24 that a reformist minority government formed by USR, PNL, and UDMR is the necessary solution for the political crisis in Romania. He ruled out the option of a minority PSD government, arguing that the social democrats have led to the rise of extremist parties.

"USR would not vote for a PSD government that includes PSD. We have already decided this," said Radu Mihaiu.

He also mentioned that PSD should support a minority government, considering the precarious electoral situation.

"Such a government would give the opportunity, including to those from PSD, to criticize and hope to grow electorally. I believe this is the best compromise solution at this moment," Mihaiu added.

According to him, USR will collaborate with PNL and UDMR to propose a prime minister, but it has not yet been decided who will be nominated.

Mihaiu warned that AUR votes should not be the basis for investing the new government and emphasized that Romania is in a worse situation than it was two months ago, following the motion of censure that led to the fall of the Bolojan Government.

We remind you that on Tuesday, President Nicușor Dan convened consultations at the Cotroceni Palace, after the Adrian Veștea government failed to secure a majority in Parliament to be invested.
