President Nicușor Dan will have a meeting with Darryl Nirenberg, the new ambassador of the United States in Romania, at the Cotroceni Palace. The event, scheduled for 2:00 PM, will mark the presentation of the letters of accreditation and the official start of his diplomatic mandate. Nirenberg was nominated by President Donald Trump and confirmed by the U.S. Senate at the end of last year.

After taking the oath at the end of February, he will coordinate bilateral relations between Romania and the U.S., in a context of strengthening political, military, and economic cooperation. Nirenberg emphasized the importance of Romania as a key ally within NATO, having a strategic role in the region and significant opportunities for American companies.
