The Romanian government will meet on Thursday at 6:00 PM at the Victoria Palace to discuss and adopt the state budget project for 2026, as well as a government decision regarding the establishment of the minimum wage. The budget project, published by the Ministry of Finance, anticipates a budget deficit of 6.2% of GDP for 2026, with an estimated reduction to 5.1% in 2027. Total revenues are expected to increase to 36% of GDP, while expenditures will rise by approximately 55.5 billion lei.
Additionally, the investment budget will increase by 25.6 billion lei, reaching over 8% of GDP. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan emphasized the need to reduce the deficit and maintain a high level of investments. The PSD announced that it will approve the project with objections, wanting to transpose the proposed measures through amendments in Parliament.
