President Nicușor Dan announced the formation of a structure within the SRI for combating corruption, included in the National Defense Strategy.

At the presentation of the National Defense Strategy, President Nicușor Dan announced the creation of a dedicated structure for corruption cases within the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI). This initiative comes as a result of including corruption in the national strategy, aiming to gather information about this phenomenon. Dan emphasized the importance of more effective collaboration between the institutions involved in the fight against corruption and mentioned the existing confusion between different levels of corruption, which affects the efficiency of actions.

The strategy provides for the involvement of intelligence services in data collection, respecting the legal limits between the information system and the judicial system. Additionally, the president highlighted the need to correct the legislation and administrative procedures that hinder the adjudication of corruption cases.
