The Minister of Labor, Florin Manole, presented a package of social measures aimed at supporting 2.8 million pensioners and over 120,000 vulnerable families, with an estimated budget impact of 2.7 billion lei. Pensioners will receive differentiated financial aid, with amounts of up to 1,000 lei, granted in two installments, including in December. Vulnerable families, especially those with children with disabilities, will benefit from the doubling of vouchers for kindergarten. Manole emphasized that the support focuses on families with extremely low incomes, mentioning that many of them have average incomes of only 366 lei per month.
The minister explained that this program is a response to the freezing of allowances and that the funding sources will come from the increase in the minimum wage and from higher VAT collections. Although he acknowledges the budgetary difficulties, Manole insisted on the need to prioritize aid for the most vulnerable.
