The Government spokesperson, Ioana Dogioiu, stated that Romania risks a penalty from the European Commission for failing to meet the milestone in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) regarding appointments in state companies. However, she emphasized that it is not in a situation of total non-fulfillment, mentioning that the Agency for Monitoring and Evaluating the Performance of Public Enterprises (AMEPIP) has already been established. Dogioiu specified that, although 11 out of 12 companies in the energy sector have met the conditions for boards, the milestone regarding Hidroelectrica cannot be achieved due to the annulment of the appointment procedure. Regarding the amount of the penalty, Dogioiu mentioned that there is still no finalized calculation, but work is being done at the Ministry of European Funds to assess the impact of not meeting certain milestones.
