Oana Țoiu, the interim Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that Romania holds an external heritage valued at over 4 billion euros, consisting of 123 buildings and 77 plots of land. In an interview with Euronews Romania, she emphasized that a recent audit revealed situations that, once remedied, could reduce the expenses of the Romanian state. For example, in Libya, where there has been no equipment since 2014, over 400,000 dollars have been paid for unjustified rents. Țoiu explained that, although the termination of rental contracts does not happen immediately under high-risk conditions, 12 years without activity is excessive. She also mentioned that renovating the buildings in Brussels and Washington could save over 5 million euros annually, considering the issues reported by local authorities.
