Radu Miruță, the Minister of Defense, stated that Romania needs to strengthen its defense industry and integrate it into major international production chains. While in Brussels, he emphasized the importance of modernizing factories in the country and connecting them to major European projects.
Miruță mentioned that Romania has allocated funds through European instruments such as SAFE for restarting arms factories, aiming to collaborate with technology companies to produce equipment necessary for the Romanian Army.
The minister highlighted that, once modernized, these facilities can contribute to broader European projects, thus increasing production capacity and localizing more added value in the country. He emphasized that strategic decisions in the defense sector are made not only at the national level but also in Brussels, where Romania needs to be active with solid arguments and projects.
Miruță discussed with Andrius Kubilius, the European Commissioner for Defense, about Romania's role in strengthening Europe's defense capabilities, emphasizing that the country has the necessary potential to contribute to a stronger European defense industry.
