Radu Miruță, the Minister of Defense, was accused of indirectly praising Nicolae Ceaușescu's regime during a show on Digi24, causing controversy. In response, he emphasized that sacrificing well-being, freedom, and human dignity for a personal power project cannot be considered patriotism. Miruță explained that he chose not to respond directly to the question of whether Ceaușescu was a patriot, arguing that it is important to discuss nostalgic perceptions of communism.

He criticized the regime for destroying destinies, suffocating freedom, and the economic isolation of Romania. He also mentioned that, although Ceaușescu pursued industrial development, his actions led to severe isolation of the country.
