PSD has launched a call to all political parties in Romania represented in the European Parliament to support the proposals made by the Minister of Agriculture, Florin Barbu, in the context of the revision of EU Directive 2019/633. These proposals aim to limit the products sold under retailers' private labels to 20% of the total sales volume, in order to ensure fair competition with local producers' brands. Other proposals include standardizing the commercial markup for similar products, eliminating the re-invoicing of discounts, and regulating discounts to protect domestic producers.
PSD emphasizes the importance of a united action of Romanian political forces in promoting national interests in this context. Additionally, the party is open to collaborations to identify and support additional amendments that will benefit the agri-food sector in Romania.
