Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that it is fair for people with disabilities to pay local taxes, considering that they are the only category exempt from contributions to Health. Bolojan emphasized that there are nearly 957,000 people with disabilities in Romania, and taxing them would bring necessary revenues to local authorities for services such as street asphalting. He mentioned that, aside from health facilities, these individuals do not pay property taxes, which affects the local budget.

Additionally, the prime minister pointed out the existence of illegally obtained disability certificates and called on the Ministries of Labor and Health to verify these situations, mentioning that statistics are distorted by abuses. Bolojan emphasized that financial aid should reach those who truly have health problems, not those who benefit from abuses.
