The accusations stemmed from two local publications which wrote that the European Public Prosecutor's Office was investigating Lasconi for alleged fraud with European funds related to contracts concluded by the Câmpulung City Hall. However, the European Public Prosecutor's Office said that the complaint was filed against private companies, without targeting the city hall or Elena Lasconi. The website that launched the attack was also found to be owned by an entity that provided services for PSD.
