The National Liberal Party (PNL) has issued a clear warning to the Social Democratic Party (PSD), right in the middle of their meeting, regarding the risks of a new political crisis if the PSD attempts to modify the budget project without prior consultations within the coalition. According to the coalition formation agreement, no party can increase budget expenditures without mutual agreement. In the press release, the liberals mentioned that any amendment to the budget must be discussed and assumed by the Government, not negotiated behind closed doors. Additionally, PNL warned that substantial changes to the budget could affect Romania's credibility in the eyes of rating agencies, increasing public debt and interest rates on loans. These statements come in the context of PSD's criticisms of the budget proposed by Ilie Bolojan, which has been considered lacking in social-democratic vision. PSD leaders announced their intention to bring amendments in Parliament.
