Ludovic Orban, the leader of the Right Force, states that the nomination of Crin Antonescu for the presidential candidacy was part of a well-defined plan aimed at preventing Ilie Bolojan's candidacy.
Orban claims that Hubert Thuma, the president of the Ilfov County Council, collected signatures to support Antonescu without Bolojan's agreement. Although Bolojan initially agreed with the proposal, he requested a sociological evaluation before the announcement. In the end, Antonescu was nominated as a candidate, but he performed poorly in the elections, losing against other candidates. Orban now criticizes Thuma for not taking responsibility for choosing an unsuitable candidate and for spreading false information about Bolojan's support. Thuma, on the other hand, claims he was betrayed by the PNL leadership, which gave the impression that Bolojan would be the party's candidate.
