At the opening of the Timișoara Cities Summit, the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, highlighted the imbalance between large cities, which generate economic development, and national authorities, which do not allocate them appropriate resources. He mentioned his experience as the mayor of Bucharest, when important projects were not supported. Nicușor Dan proposed the creation of a European network of large cities to strengthen their voice in the European decision-making process.
