President Nicușor Dan stated that, although communism and Nicolae Ceaușescu caused much harm, people perceived during the Ceaușescu era a country plan that they do not see in the present. In an interview, he emphasized the need for Romania to develop an economic vision to identify its competitive development areas.

"It reflects the same distrust regarding how Romania is currently being managed. None, because people are aware that communism was not something beneficial. And this is a good thing, because we started from the same level as Greece, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, and there is a clear difference at this moment. On the other hand, Nicolae Ceaușescu, because... of course, communism and Nicolae Ceaușescu did a lot of harm, but I believe that people saw during the Ceaușescu era a country plan that in all this prolonged transition we are living, they do not see it. This is how I read it," said Nicușor Dan.
