The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, has reacted to the attack by extremist leader George Simion, who insulted him during a speech, calling him "paraplegic" and accusing him of lacking dialogue with AUR. Nicușor Dan stated that such claims are "below any level of dialogue" and that politicians must represent the interests of the citizens who voted for them. He emphasized that resorting to insults and dubious metaphors is evidence of a lack of arguments.
Simion criticized AUR's absence from the consultations at Cotroceni, but Nicușor Dan reaffirmed that political dialogue must be based on solid arguments.
The National Council for Combating Discrimination is investigating AUR leader Nicușor Dan, following a complaint received on Friday. George Simion is accused of using the term "paraplegic" in a pejorative sense, referring to President Nicușor Dan, in a speech given at a meeting in Azomureș on Thursday, April 23.
