The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan: "Although there have been turbulence and some discontinuities in this transatlantic relationship recently, there are multiple solid arguments for its continuation and strengthening."

President Nicușor Dan attended an informal meeting of the European Council in Brussels, where he emphasized the importance of the partnership between the European Union and the United States. He stated that this partnership has a solid history, significantly contributing to the security and development of the European continent. Nicușor Dan mentioned that, for Romania, the USA represents an indispensable strategic partner, a vision shared by many European states. Although there have been recent turbulences in the transatlantic relationship, he highlighted the need to continue and strengthen it through constructive dialogue. During the discussions, European leaders agreed on solidarity with Denmark and Greenland in the Arctic region and reconfirmed support for Ukraine. Additionally, there was discussion about Europe's active involvement in the peace process in Gaza, as well as the necessity of negotiations with the USA to ensure the compatibility of the "Coalition for Peace Charter" initiative with existing international commitments.
