The leaders of the General Prosecutor's Office and DNA, Alex Florența and Marius Voineag, have not submitted their candidacies for a new term at the helm of the institutions they have led for the past three years, writes Mediafax, citing sources, but are aiming for deputy positions in other structures: Florența for a deputy position at DIICOT, and Voineag for the position of deputy prosecutor general of Romania. The deadline for submitting candidacies for the leadership of the General Prosecutor's Office, DNA, and DIICOT, as well as for deputy positions, closed on Monday, February 9, at 12:00 PM.

Marius Voineag, the head of DNA, stated that the institution must continue to fight against corruption with the same determination, being attentive to discussions in society, while avoiding involvement in political disputes. He thanked the media and civil society for their support in combating corruption and emphasized the responsibility that the chief prosecutor has. Voineag stated that DNA is a respected institution, essential for the Romanian state, which must avoid the temptation of tele-justice and political influences. He also mentioned that, after three years in office, he has fulfilled the objectives he set and decided to run for the position of deputy prosecutor general of Romania, where he believes he can contribute best to justice. Voineag encouraged his colleagues at DNA to continue their important mission and urged citizens to have confidence in the professionalism of the institution.
