The interim president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, explained that his act of leaving the room during the playing of the Szekler Anthem was a principled gesture, reaffirming that, from the perspective of the Romanian state, there is only one official anthem. Although he participated with pleasure in the Congress, he regrets that his exit overshadowed the main message of his speech, which emphasized unity and collaboration between parties. Grindeanu thanked the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, for his support in Romania's accession to Schengen and mentioned that he has respectful relations with UDMR members, but considers it important to respect national symbols.
