George Simion, the leader of AUR, was involved in a new verbal slip regarding President Nicușor Dan, insinuating that he might have a problem with public appearances. During the show 'Romania in Direct', Simion stated that he does not know if the problem is health-related or if Dan is capable of fulfilling his role, claiming that "he has a problem".
Simion specified that he previously used the term 'paraplegic' as a metaphor to describe the perceived inability of the mayor to lead effectively. His statements have sparked controversy, and the National Council for Combating Discrimination announced that it will investigate his claims.
Nicușor Dan responded that Simion's statement is "below any level of dialogue", while Marius Lulea, AUR's founder, harshly criticized his leader's behavior, emphasizing that such statements affect the party's image. Simion continued to accuse Dan of focusing on excluding AUR from political consultations instead of addressing the economic crisis.
