He called for guarantees to protect Romanian and European farmers, mentioning that Romania has the largest number of farmers in the EU. Barbu highlighted the risks associated with the use of banned substances in Mercosur countries, which could affect food security and public health. Although he supports free trade, he warns that trade without quality standards can lead to dumping. The leader of UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, and the president of PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, criticized the lack of discussions about this agreement within the coalition, emphasizing the need for transparency and informing citizens.
